Problem

Create a campaign for Gateway Science Museum’s reopening after a year and a half long closure due to COVID-19. Including onsite signage, exhibit identity, and merchandise.

Solution

In the summer of 2021 the Gateway Science Museum team was tasked with preparing to open our doors with short notice from the University. The most significant issue inherent with this last minute reopening was that there were no exhibits for the public to engage with. The solution was to take activities that had been stored away from past exhibits and programs and create two collections. A space-themed exhibit, “The Space Space” and the other with STEM related activities, “The Tinkerspace”.

I set out to not only create identities for these two spaces but also to create general signage for the museum to ensure that visitors and staff alike were getting to experience the museum safely. This included COVID protocol signage and safety reminders posted around the museum.

Alongside these materials I also designed a new space-themed staff t-shirt featuring illustrations of rockets, astronauts, satellites, and more.
